Your Word, Their Watch

Our kids are always watching how we handle commitments. Not just the big ones - every single "I'll do it later" and "I'll be there in a minute" gets filed away in their mental playbook.

Whether it's finishing that basement project we promised our partner six months ago, or pushing through mile 20 of a marathon we signed up for, our kids are taking notes. They're learning what it means to follow through, even when things get tough.

So when they're dragging their feet about piano practice or wanting to quit soccer mid-season, they're not just hearing our words about commitment - they're measuring them against our actions.

It's not about being perfect. It's about showing them that our word means something. That "I will" isn't just something we say - it's something we live.

Maybe the next time we're tempted to put off that home project or skip that training run, we should remember: little eyes are watching, and they're learning what promises mean by watching how we keep ours.

Laird Hamilton: Pushing Limits in the Ocean and at Home

Laird Hamilton doesn’t just ride the world’s biggest waves—he’s out here teaching his daughters how to tackle life head-on, too. For the legendary surfer, fatherhood is about more than just cheering from the shore; it’s about leading by example.

You can’t tell your kids to chase big goals if you’re not willing to take on challenges yourself,” Laird says. And he lives it. Whether he’s pushing the limits in the ocean or grinding through intense training sessions, he’s showing his kids what hard work and guts look like up close.

Laird’s not just raising surfers—he’s raising resilient humans. He’s teaching them to respect the waves and the wipeouts, because getting back up is what really matters. Give Laird a follow.

30-Minute Upper Body Blast

No time? No problem. Here’s a 30-minute upper body burner you can knock out between meetings, naps, or bedtime chaos. All you need is a set of dumbbells (one heavy, one light) and some grit.

The Moves:

1️⃣ 10 x Chest Press
2️⃣ 10 x Renegade Row
3️⃣ 10 x Arnold Press
4️⃣ 10 x Tricep Dips
5️⃣ 10 x Front Raise
6️⃣ 10 x Hammer Curls

Pro Tip: Lift heavy. If you’re breezing through, bump up the weight—those last reps should make you fight for it. Because, as we all know, the real gains happen when you’re struggling.

See it in action.

Cool Off Like a Soldier

Stuck in scorching heat at a kid's soccer game? Sweating through your shirt on that family camping trip? Here’s a military trick to cool down fast—no AC or fancy gear required.

The U.S. Army uses a simple method to drop body temperature in minutes:

  1. Fill a bucket (or sink) with ice-cold water.

  2. Submerge your forearms and wrists for 3-5 minutes.

  3. Raise your arms above your head afterward.

Why does it work? The blood in your arms gets cooled by the water, then circulates through your core, lowering your body temperature by up to 2°F. Two degrees may not sound like much, but trust me—it makes a huge difference when you’re melting.
